Internet - the easy way out. The title speaks for itself. Exposure to the internet has not only affected kids these days in terms of social behaviour, it also has affected their skills of survival. It is inevitable that the internet plays a major role in today's world but lets not forget about how important it is for a child to learn simple skills in life. There is more to learning than just "googling" your way through the internet.
Children these days are so spoiled that their definition of hardwork is nothing but browsing through the internet looking for information. Most kids would not even have stepped into a library to look for a valuable piece of information from a book. The internet has provided such an easy way, that going out under the sunlight and sweating out seems to be an option for "foolish" people. If that isn't enough, the internet has also been a major culprit in the downfall of proper social etiquettes among kids nowadays.
Spending almost half the day in front of their laptops or computer, not going out to meet actual people and developing interpersonal relationship and experiencing what the world really is like has become more of a trend. They are spoilt for choice via the internet and extensive use of social network sites is the trend. How would one expect a child to become socially active and have proper interpersonal skills when all they do throughout their growing stage of life is staring at the computer?
These are just some of the things to be pondered upon for the good of our own child. Parents should know how to draw that fine line between learning and addiction. It is beyond reasonable doubt that the internet is a powerfool learning tool but again, it has its limitations. It cannot provide real-life experience and human emotions to a child. It is important for a child to develop these little skills in life, so that they may turn out to be a better individual in life.
