Internet - the easy way out.

Internet - the easy way out. The title speaks for itself. Exposure to the internet has not only affected kids these days in terms of social behaviour, it also has affected their skills of survival. It is inevitable that the internet plays a major role in today's world but lets not forget about how important it is for a child to learn simple skills in life. There is more to learning than just "googling" your way through the internet.

Children these days are so spoiled that their definition of hardwork is nothing but browsing through the internet looking for information. Most kids would not even have stepped into a library to look for a valuable piece of information from a book. The internet has provided such an easy way, that going out under the sunlight and sweating out seems to be an option for "foolish" people. If that isn't enough, the internet has also been a major culprit in the downfall of proper social etiquettes among kids nowadays.

Spending almost half the day in front of their laptops or computer, not going out to meet actual people and developing interpersonal relationship and experiencing what the world really is like has become more of a trend. They are spoilt for choice via the internet and extensive use of social network sites is the trend. How would one expect a child to become socially active and have proper interpersonal skills when all they do throughout their growing stage of life is staring at the computer?

These are just some of the things to be pondered upon for the good of our own child. Parents should know how to draw that fine line between learning and addiction. It is beyond reasonable doubt that the internet is a powerfool learning tool but again, it has its limitations. It cannot provide real-life experience and human emotions to a child. It is important for a child to develop these little skills in life, so that they may turn out to be a better individual in life.

INTERNET GAMING ADDICTION

The Internet is very broad for usage among people. Tasks can be conducted are researches, social networking, entertainment, and many more.

This part will be focused on Entertainment such as online video games. Online video games can mislead kids in severe consequences, for instance the term called "addiction". Online games are participated by people at all ages, but that depends on the fact whether their usage towards it are balanced with the real world. In relevant to kids however, majority do not know how it feels like in the outdoor world (work, hanging out with friends, marketing), thus when they find something interesting to do, they get attached in an instant. Therefore they will keep repeating it.

Ofcourse it is not wrong to pass time playing these games, thats the reason why gaming companies are upgrading their game's features and more complex; better graphics, more realistic characters, greater challenges, etc.

However, everything should be balanced out accordingly. Kids should also schedulize their time by maintaining their grade levels, balancing school activities, and most important which is family obligations. The thing is, when people get too attached with games, they tend to become anti-social. In other means, they communicate more with the games rather than socializing with people all around. This may lead to other severe negative consequences.

kids lifestyle due to long hours of internet usage

Internet can be hazardous to kids brain in a long run of time. As for this, elders such as parent's and teacher's in school need to control the internet usage time. In actual life kids start to become lazy to have outdoor activities or even spending time with their parents because they are gloomed to the internet world and this can cause many problems to them as time goes by. Such problem's are kids tend to get up late for school, they tend to miss their meals, they start using foul languages with friends and even parent's and so on and this is caused by the internet. It can also damage their eye in a long run because of the light ray of the computer and this would need them to use specs at a very young age. So to avoid all this unnecessary problem because of the internet, elders need to have a timetable done on the amount of time their kids or student's uses the internet. Serious precaution needs to be taken to keep them healthy.

This focuses more on parental guidance as the main point. Parents should know that their kid's minds are developing as they grow older, they tend to generally know more. Well their task is to deal with it as long as they keep one eye laid on their kid's behavioral acts and the accompany they mix with. The objective is to make sure that their kids grow up on the right path and have a positive state of mind. Social influence plays a big role among children because children tend to learn faster than adults, as they consume information more effective in comparison.

Peer pressure from friends may influence and corrupt children's perceptions. For example; ("Friend A" tells "Friend B" that he observed obscene images of nudity online. This builds curiosity for "Friend B" because he never seen such scenery. Therefore, he then seeks for the appropriate time to be alone and then views online on his own.)

As been said, children can't be blamed for all these because they are learning day by day, but the solution is from parental guidance to prevent such negativity caused. Parents are encourages to be actively involved in their children's education at school, what more as they have authority, while their kids are young, they authorize decision making and advisory to their kids when necessary.

Softwares to help safeguard child's while using the Internet

The internet nowadays is inevitably a vital tool in a child's life. It serves as a purpose to educate and expose a child to a lot of things around the world. It builds relationships and allows a child to extend their knowledge to the various cultures and different sets of people all over the world. As mentioned in the previous post by my group mate, this blog is about the safety of kids and the internet.

While the internet may be a great tool for a child to utilize in their growing stage and learning process, parents should be aware of the potential harm that it may cause their child. It should be their utmost priority to ensure that their child is internet savvy and should be monitored to make sure they do not fall into unneccesary harm. One of the ways that parents could do to ensure the safety of their kids is to get a reliable software installed in their computers that enables parenting control feature.

What is parenting control feature? It is a feature programmed in most anti-virus softwares that allows parents to control and monitor the use of the internetr by their child. It has no limits in terms of their geographical position, meaning, parents could monitor from technically anywhere they are. It gives them the peace of mind that their child is protected in the cyber realm.

In my point of view, I feel its important that parents consider this feature to be a part of their anti-virus packages or internet subscription plan so that, their child would not only be learning and exposing themselves to knowledge but at the same time be protected from the harmful things the internet could cause. Apart from that, it also gives parents a peace of mind that their child is protected.
